The Summer Shakedown

I'm about to throw a lot at you. Are you ready?

Summer should be something like this:

In other words, the bomb. These bands brought it the hardest in Summer Ten.

DELOREAN (Bowery Ballroom, July 13)

Wait. The energy. Are you kidding? And the beat? It's correct.

She may be possessed, but holy god is she hot. Add two drummers to the mix and...

Sorry. I just died.

ECLECTIC METHOD (Webster Hall, August 6)

Dude. If you don't know about EM, your time has come. They're an audio-visual remix duo who are freaking pros. Pretty sure they're the future.

CARIBOU (Glasslands, July 16)

Math wiz gets down, boy. Got that dancefloor movin to the 10th power.

That's a lot to take in. But it's all so good. Like

I think summer also has room for this gem:

I loved Caribou, but it wasn't necessarily about the dance party- it was more about their off-kilter mood music and bringing you into their show- not about yours, at least in LA.

Describe more about what the music sounds like!!! I dig EM as well... I think they are uber progressive in the visual sense, although haven't seen them live. NY centric I think for now..

Thanks for the comment, MusicBlogger!

I should've clarified: Caribou's performance at Glasslands was a DJ set. I'm sure the live show is much different; can't wait to catch that.

Will definitely describe the music more in the future. Appreciate the tip : )

Emma Matthieson is a gentlelady and a scholar.

She brought me to Brooklyn Bowl.

I'm not a hipster and at first felt unease being surrounded by such hip people.

My clothes weren't stylish. They were conservative. I had just come from work.

Nothing I wore was ironic. Nothing I wore was retro nor was anything even worn in.

Everything I wore was from either Brooks Brothers or the more conservative side of J.Crew.

Yet, despite all this, despite the weirdo beers that they served (who the hell doesn't offer the masses Bud Light) I found myself quite happy that eve.

It was a pleasant experience. One I cherish for some time to come now. The day I went to Brooklyn Bowl with Emma Matthieson. And partied with the cool kids.
